PDP Warns APC: Edo Voters Will Resist Attacks, Harassment

As political tensions escalate in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cease its alleged attacks and harassment of innocent citizens in Edo State. The warning comes ahead of the September 21, 2024 Governorship election, with the PDP claiming that the APC is desperate to rig the election and scare voters away.

According to Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, the warning is necessary due to the continued attacks, harassment, and illegal arrests of innocent citizens by APC leaders in connivance with compromised police operatives. Ologunagba stated that the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, is coasting to a landslide victory with over 68% of the expected votes, prompting the APC to resort to violence and harassment to break the will of the people.

The PDP has raised concerns over several incidents, including the attempted arrest of Chief Francis Inegbeniki on August 28, 2024, and the forced detention of Shina, who defected from the APC to the PDP, on September 4, 2024. Additionally, thugs and hoodlums recruited by APC leaders attacked a PDP rally in Edo North on September 8, 2024, destroying campaign materials and sparking a fierce resistance from PDP members and supporters.

The PDP has urged Edo voters to remain resolute and prepared to face the wrath of the APC if it continues its nefarious activities. The party has vowed to protect its members and supporters, ensuring that the will of the people is respected and upheld.

As the election draws near, the situation in Edo State remains volatile, with both parties vying for power. The international community is closely watching the developments, with concerns over the potential for violence and instability in the region.
