Bandits Abduct Nurses, Patients in Kaduna Healthcare Centre

Terrorists Abduct Nurses and Patients from Healthcare Centre in Nigeria

In a shocking incident, terrorists kidnapped two nurses and two patients from a Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo community, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria. The attack occurred on Monday, with the terrorists, locally known as bandits, targeting the healthcare facility after their plan to abduct students from a nearby secondary school failed.

According to a resident, Ishaq Usman, the attackers turned their attention to the healthcare centre after finding no students at the Government Day Secondary School in the community. A source in Birnin Gwari town confirmed the incident, stating that the terrorists invaded the school around 9 a.m. but found it empty.

The community lies on the Birnin Gwari-Funtua highway, approximately 60 kilometres from Birnin Gwari town. The police spokesperson in Kaduna, Mansir Hassan, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), did not respond to phone calls to comment on the incident.

However, an internal security memo from one of the security formations stationed in the troubled region confirmed the attack. The memo stated that a non-state armed group, suspected to be bandits or terrorists, carried out the attack, abducting two nurses and an unspecified number of patients.

The memo also revealed that the armed suspects stormed the area on motorcycles and started shooting sporadically during the attack. Initial reports suggest that the gunmen first targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School, but finding it empty, they turned their attention to the healthcare facility.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, with residents and healthcare workers at risk of being targeted by terrorists. The Nigerian government must take immediate action to address these security concerns and ensure the safety of its citizens.
