13 February 2023 – Morenikeji Lasisi, popularly known as Baba Keji, has died at the age of 120. He was a long‑serving member of the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo in Oyo State and was regarded as the oldest person in the palace. Baba Keji served three Alaafins, including Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, whom he assisted for 51 years before the late king’s death ten months earlier. He passed away last night and will be buried today according to Islamic rites. Further details will follow.
