International Rapper Davido Opens Up About Coping with Grief

Nigerian singer and rapper David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has shared his personal struggles with grief and loss in a recent interview. The superstar, who has lost multiple loved ones, including his mother and young son, has found solace in his faith and has continued to rise above his struggles.

In the interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, Davido discussed his experiences with loss and how he has managed to cope with the pain. He reflected on the deaths of his mother, Victoria Imade Adeleke, when he was just 11 years old, and his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, as well as the losses of associates Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and personal photographer Fortune.

“When I lose someone, I just be strong,” Davido said. “I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”

Davido also addressed some common misconceptions about him, saying that people often think he is not approachable and that he is too accessible. However, he credits his big family upbringing and his talent and success, which he believes are “God-given,” with helping him navigate these perceptions.

Throughout his career, Davido has been known for his energetic performances, catchy hits, and charismatic stage presence. However, behind the scenes, the artist has faced numerous personal challenges, including the deaths of his loved ones. By speaking out about his experiences, Davido is using his platform to raise awareness about grief and the importance of having a strong support system during difficult times.

As an international artist, Davido’s story serves as a reminder that even in the face of tragedy, there is always hope and a way to find strength.
