Cristiano Ronaldo’s Return to Manchester United Possible Under Ruben Amorim, Says Teddy Sheringham

Cristiano Ronaldo, whose turbulent departure from Manchester United drew global attention, might still be welcomed back to Old Trafford, according to former United striker Teddy Sheringham. The retired star shared his thoughts with Mirror UK, expressing optimism about Ronaldo’s potential return, especially with Ruben Amorim—a fellow Portuguese and potential incoming United manager—at the helm.

Ronaldo’s celebrated return to United in 2021 initially delighted fans. However, his stint ended in controversy following a candid interview with Piers Morgan that exposed his frustrations with the club’s management, ultimately leading to his move to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Despite these past issues, Sheringham believes that Amorim’s appointment could reopen doors for Ronaldo at United, suggesting a return might be smoother given their shared history in the Portuguese squad.

“Cristiano Ronaldo would be very welcome back at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim. But he is onto bigger and better things,” Sheringham commented to FlashScore, adding that Ronaldo might take a path similar to David Beckham’s—focusing on prominent roles worldwide rather than coaching.

Ronaldo himself has hinted at his disinterest in a coaching career, expressing skepticism about the current generation’s attitudes toward mentorship. “For me, it will be difficult one day to be a coach because I don’t have a passion for this generation. They don’t take advice from our experience,” Ronaldo remarked on his YouTube channel, UR, noting his views on youth reliance on social media for learning.

Looking forward, Ronaldo appears set on pursuing business ventures once his playing days conclude, expressing excitement about expanding into new fields beyond football.
