Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba announced on Thursday that the force will deploy 310,973 personnel to more than 8,000 wards across the country for the February 11 and March 25 elections. He made the statement during the 66th session of the State House Ministerial briefing, organized by the Presidential Communications Team at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

According to the police chief, the deployed personnel will be drawn from conventional police officers, mobile police, special forces, the intelligence response team, the counter‑terrorism unit, and other divisions. In addition, the force’s efforts will be bolstered by 93,495 extra personnel from the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Correctional Service, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Baba also detailed the mobile infrastructure that will support the operation. At least 74 armoured personnel carriers, 37 water cannons, 1,240 patrol vehicles, 50 ambulances, and 300 motorcycles will be deployed nationwide. The deployment will further include surveillance helicopters, canine units, and other specialized resources.
