NPFL: Finidi explains red card in Rivers United’s draw with Plateau United

Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George, has revealed the reason for his red card in the draw against Plateau United.

Finidi said that his decision to challenge the referee’s decision to alter the flow of the game to attend to the crowd resulted in his sending off.

Rivers United were held to a 1-1 draw by Plateau United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday.

Victor Temitope’s goal put Plateau United in front before Handsome Surveyors scored the equaliser for Rivers United.

“All referees should do their job apart from my first season at Enyimba I hardly get angry over some calls you see it you tends to accept it,”Finidi told Rivers United’s media.

“Because football is moments we are losing and we have that momentum and we were pushing all of a sudden the referee was busy trying to control somebody in the stand I feel the referee broke that momentum which wasn’t good for us.

“The referee should have concentrated on the game because he can’t stop the drums from playing, that was what I was trying to tell the referee and he gave me a card which I had to protest that.”
