EPL: Arteta confirm fresh Arsenal injury blow after Brighton draw

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed that Ethan Nwaneri was withdrawn during their 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday due to a muscle problem.

Nwaneri opened the scoring at the Amex, curling home his second league strike of the season.

However, the 17-year-old failed to emerge for the second half of the game and was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli.

It now appears the midfielder will miss the Gunners’ next fixture in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle.

Speaking after full-time, Arteta delivered a worrying update.

He said: “Really bad news because I think we’ve lost him.

“We had to take him off at half-time with some muscular issues.”
