Arsenal provided an update on Gabriel Jesus on Tuesday following the striker’s injury. The Premier League club shared this information in a statement on their website.
The Brazilian international sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Manchester United on Sunday. He was substituted in the first half of the game at the Emirates Stadium, where the Gunners ultimately lost 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Jesus was replaced by Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling after just 40 minutes of play.
In their statement, Arsenal announced, “Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme.” They also emphasized their commitment to keeping fans updated on Jesus’ recovery, stating that everyone at the club is focused on supporting him to ensure he returns to full fitness as soon as possible.
This latest injury represents a significant setback for Mikel Arteta’s side. As a result, the Premier League club may be compelled to sign a new striker during the January transfer window to address the gap left by Jesus’ absence.
