Transgender: She’s fighting to keep men in women’s sports — Trump chides Maine governor

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday criticised Maine Governor Janet Mills on stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference, CPAC.

Trump accused Mills of fighting to keep men in women’s sports.

“You saw Maine yesterday, right? The governor of Maine,” Trump said, prompting boos from the CPAC audience.

“She’s fighting to keep men in women’s sports. You ever see what happens when a woman boxes a man who transitioned to womanhood? You ever see what happens? It’s not pretty.

“Let her do that fight. Let them all do that fight,” Trump added.

Media Talk Africa recalls that this comes after the two clashed the day before at the White House over transgender athletes in women’s sports.

Mills had gone head-to-head with Trump at the National Governors Association session at the White House on Friday, after the U.S. President told a group of Republican governors that he would withhold funding from states refusing to comply with an executive order barring transgender athletes from competing in women’s and girls’ sports.

Trump directly asked Mills during the session whether the state would follow the order, to which she responded, “I’m complying with state and federal law.”

“We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get federal funding,” Trump replied.

“See you in court,” Mills then responded.
