Naira records third consecutive depreciation against dollar

The Nigerian naira recorded its third consecutive depreciation against the dollar in the official foreign exchange market on Thursday.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the naira fell slightly to N1,538.66 per dollar on Thursday, from N1,537.62 on Wednesday.

This indicates a marginal daily decrease of N1.4.

Meanwhile, in the parallel market, the naira remained stable at N1,560 per dollar on Thursday, maintaining the same exchange rate as the previous day.

As reported by Media Talk Africa on Wednesday, the naira appreciated in the parallel market while depreciating in the official market.

The last time the naira gained value in the official market during the current week was on 24 March 2025, when it stood at N1,531.19 per dollar, up from N1,536.89 at the close of trading last Friday.
