Naira records significant appreciation against the dollar at the black market weekly

FX Rates Unify As Naira Depreciates At Official Black Markets

The Naira appreciated significantly against the dollar at the parallel foreign exchange market weekly from March 24 to 28, 2025.

This comes as data from Bureau De Change Operators showed that the Naira strengthened to N1,550 per dollar on Friday, from N1,570 recorded at the start of the week.

The development means that the Naira in the past five days gained N20 against the dollar.

Meanwhile, on a week-on-week basis, the naira depreciated by N7.47 per dollar at the official market, compared to N1,531.19 at the start of the week.

This showed that the Naira had mixed performance sentiments against the dollar and other currencies at the FX markets in the week under review.

Media Talk Africa reports that the CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, in his statement to the February 2025 Monetary Policy Committee, spoke on the need to maintain a heightened level of surveillance in the country’s foreign exchange market by rooting out bad players.
