UCL: Supercomputer predicts teams to reach semi-final, win trophy

A supercomputer has predicted the teams likely to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals this season, as well as the team expected to win the trophy.

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, Arsenal are set to beat Real Madrid and qualify for the semi-finals with a 50.2 per cent chance, while Paris Saint-Germain are also predicted to qualify for the last four, ahead of Aston Villa.

The winner of Arsenal versus Real Madrid will face PSG or Aston Villa in the semi-finals.

PSG are given a 71.3 per cent probability of beating Aston Villa and a 36.2 per cent chance of defeating either Real Madrid or Arsenal to reach the final.

Arsenal are said to have a 29.5 per cent chance of making it to the Champions League final in Munich, with Real Madrid narrowly behind on 25.2 per cent.

The Gunners are third favourites to win the Champions League this season, with a 15.6 per cent likelihood of doing so.

Barcelona are seen as the most likely winners, with a 23.1 per cent chance, followed by PSG with 19.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan have a 51.5 per cent chance of reaching the Champions League semi-finals, ahead of Bayern Munich, who have a 48.5 per cent chance.
