Karim Adeyemi, the in‑form Borussia Dortmund forward, will miss about three weeks after sustaining a thigh injury during the Bundesliga match against Hertha Berlin. The club announced on Monday that Adeyemi tore a muscle fibre while setting up a goal for Donyell Malen in Dortmund’s 4‑1 victory. He was helped off the pitch in tears.
The club’s tweet read: “Karim Adeyemi tore a muscle fibre during Sunday’s game against Hertha Berlin. He will not be available for about three weeks. Get well soon.” Adeyemi, who also scored in the win, has been a key contributor for Dortmund, tallying three goals and one assist in his last three games. His performances have helped Dortmund remain level on points at the top of the Bundesliga alongside Bayern Munich and Union Berlin.
Adeyemi’s injury means he will miss the upcoming fixtures against Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Schalke. It also rules him out of the second leg of Dortmund’s Champions League tie with Chelsea in London, where Dortmund hold a 1‑0 lead from the first leg—a match in which Adeyemi scored the decisive goal.
