HealthFundy, a health platform and subsidiary of the telemedicine service Dokita 24/7, announced that it will offer online crowdfunding to provide funding for individuals, non‑governmental organisations, and small and medium‑scale enterprises. In a statement, the company—also a member of American Hospitals—affirmed its commitment to delivering crowdfunding services to families, individuals, communities, and organisations across Nigeria and the wider African region.
Country Operations Manager Ms Jasmine Onyemachi explained how crowdfunding works on the HealthFundy platform: “Crowdfunding is the process of raising capital from a large number of individuals to finance medical healthcare, primarily through the internet. It allows anyone worldwide with a genuine, verified health issue to raise funds online by seeking the help of generous donors.” She noted that once a campaign is completed and the funds are disbursed, a patient must start a new campaign with proof that additional funds are needed, advising that accurate estimates be made beforehand to avoid repeated requests.
Regarding fund disbursement, Onyemachi added that the process occurs in two parts: one portion pays the medical bills directly to the hospital, while the other is transferred to the individual for therapy or recuperation expenses.
Chief Medical Director Dr Iyiola Olamide emphasized the organisation’s vision and mission: “Our goal is to create access to affordable healthcare and medical facilities for all strata of society in Nigeria and across Africa.” She reiterated that the team is dedicated to providing financial access to medical‑related projects and to offering patients opportunities to obtain quality healthcare through crowdfunding, ultimately saving lives.
