Osun guber poll: APC chieftain cautions aspirants against ‘do or die’ politics

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Osun State, Olasiji Olamiju has cautioned aspirants in the party vying for political seats against ‘do or die’ politics as the 2026 gubernatorial election approaches.

Olamiju, who was a former Special Adviser to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Public Health, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Osogbo.

He said that the need for sportsmanship and party unity has become imperative in order to actualize the party’s quest to win the poll.

”The large numbers of aspirants seeking the APC ticket is a testament to the party’s strength and the people’s desire for leadership in Osun.

”I urge all the aspirants to prioritise party unity and support whoever emerges as the flag bearer with the ultimate goal to deliver Osun to President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election,” Olamiju said.

According to him, “when we maintain party unity and focus on the bigger picture, I believe the APC can emerge victorious and fulfil its mandate comes 2026 and 2027 elections.

”Also, what should be paramount to every dedicated members of the party now is how the party will win the coming elections in the state.”

His statement is coming amid agitations by party members for the 2026 guber ticket in the party to be zoned to Osun West Senatorial District.

However, Ajibola Basiru, current APC National Secretary and also an aspirant, has openly disagreed with the agitations.

Basiru insisted that zoning was not part of the APC constitution.
