Mauritanian Sidi Ould Tah elected AfDB President after Nigeria's Adesina

Mauritania’s Sidi Ould Tah has been elected as the ninth President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

His election was announced on the website of the AfDB on Thursday.

Tah, who headed the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) for 10 years, secured 72.37 percent of African votes.

Tah takes over from Nigeria’s Akinwumi Adesina, whose tenure had come to an end.

This comes after a weeklong annual meeting held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Media Talk Africa recalls that Adesina has served as AfDB president since May 28, 2015.
