Nigerian Police Warns Against Public Unrest During Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

As the Eid-el-Kabir celebration approaches, the Nigerian Police Force is taking proactive measures to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for all. In a statement released by the Jigawa State Police Command, the force has warned that anyone found causing public unrest during the festivities will be prosecuted. This directive is part of a comprehensive security plan aimed at maintaining law and order throughout the celebration.

According to ASP Ibrahim Sunusi Idris, the command has activated an intelligence-led security architecture that covers all 27 Local Government Areas in Jigawa State. This includes strategic deployments of conventional and tactical teams to key locations such as Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, motor parks, markets, highways, and other critical infrastructure. The command is fully prepared to frustrate, apprehend, and prosecute anyone who attempts to disrupt the peace, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all celebrants.

In addition to these security measures, the police have also issued guidelines for parents and guardians to follow during the celebration. Minors are not allowed to operate vehicles, and children must be accompanied by responsible adults in all public areas. Furthermore, horse riders are restricted to private compounds or officially approved equestrian zones, with unauthorized displays liable to lead to arrest and legal action.

The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, A.T. Abdullahi, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He emphasized that the police will stop at nothing to ensure that all residents and visitors celebrate in an atmosphere of peace, safety, and dignity. With these measures in place, the Nigerian Police Force is determined to make the Eid-el-Kabir celebration a joyous and secure occasion for everyone involved. By prioritizing public safety and order, the force aims to create an environment where people can come together to celebrate and observe this significant religious holiday without fear of disruption or harm.
