A public feud has erupted between two of the world’s most influential figures, Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump, with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s father, Errol Musk, urging his son to end the conflict immediately. The disagreement between the two former allies began over Trump’s “Big and Beautiful” tax and spending bill, which escalated into a series of heated exchanges on social media.
Elon Musk, who recently stepped down as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, accused President Trump of “ingratitude” and even suggested impeachment. He also threatened to decommission the Dragon spacecraft, which could potentially paralyze the US space program. In response, Trump claimed that Musk had gone “crazy” and was upset because he had taken away his Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate.
According to Errol Musk, his son is likely to lose the battle of public opinion, given Trump’s overwhelming support among the American people. In an interview with Al Arabiya, the 79-year-old stated, “Trump, of course, will prevail because he has been voted in by the majority of the people in America.” Errol Musk, who has spent the past three weeks in the US, believes that the public is firmly behind the president, with “100% behind Trump.”
Errol Musk revealed that he had sent a message to his son, urging him to diffuse the situation. He attributed the spat to the stress and pressure that both Trump and Elon Musk are under, saying, “What has happened is, you know, the alphas have sort ofโฆ cleared the opposition and like most animals, elephants… lions and so forth, and humans, are now looking to take on each other. It seems a bit silly to me.” He also noted that both individuals have been subject to intense scrutiny, which can lead to exhaustion and outbursts.
If Elon Musk can swiftly resolve the conflict, Errol Musk believes it will be merely “a bump in the road” in his relationship with the president. When asked about the possibility of the two men being friends again, he replied, “Yes, of course. Yes, of course.” As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the two former allies can put their differences aside and move forward in a positive direction.
