SDP will not partake in any coalition – Eluwa

The Imo State Chairman of Social Democratic Party, SDP, Henry Eluwa has said that the party will not join any form of alliance with other political parties ahead of 2027 general elections.

He hinted that SDP will try its best to maintain and protect its identity and will never allow any form of merger that will erase the party’s ideology.

In a press statement, Eluwa asserted that the State Chapter of the party is in total agreement with the decision taken at the national level under the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, who according to him, has clearly stated that the party must maintain its identity.

According to him, Gabam pointed out that any form of merger will only multiply the crisis the nation is trying to address, adding that the party will only support and promote credible leadership.

“Those who believe in our vision, like Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai and Major Hamza Al-Mustapha and others, have joined us without conditions and that’s the spirit we uphold.

“SDP is here to stay, and by the will of Allah, we will present a credible candidate that Nigerians across all divides can rally behind in 2027.

“The movement is growing, and so is the hope for a better Nigeria.

“We will never collapse into any coalition or merger. We are firmly committed to maintaining our identity, values and national outlook,” the press release stated.
