Israel-Iran war: Nigerian petrol marketers increase fuel price 2 times in 1 week

Nigerian petroleum product marketers have increased the price of motor spirit two consecutive times in less than one week.

Media Talk Africa’s correspondent observed that Empire Energy filling station, Ranoil and other petrol marketers in the Federal Capital Territory have adjusted their fuel pumps twice since last week.

The Empire Energy filling station in Gwarimpa first hiked its pump from N910 to N955 per litre last week. Media Talk Africa observed that the filling station has effected another petrol pump price hike to N975 as of Monday.

On the part of Ranoil outlets in Gwarimpa, Kado, and Lugbe, petrol was first increased to N935 from N905 per litre last week, but the price had grown to N955 per litre as of Monday morning.

Earlier, Media Talk Africa reported that Dangote Refinery’s retail partner, MRS, increased its fuel pump price to between N925 and N945 in Lagos and Abuja.

Similarly, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited also jerked up its retail fuel price to N945 and N915 in Abuja and Lagos.

Reacting, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association, Abubakar Maigandi, blamed the knee-jerk petrol price hikes on the surge in global crude oil prices as a result of Israel-Iran strikes.

Media Talk Africa reports that at the weekend, the United States announced that it successfully bombed Iran’s three nuclear sites, resulting in a further rise in global crude oil prices by three percent as of Monday morning.
