APC’s Bamidele, Adaramodu, Fasuyi win Ekiti senatorial elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of the senatorial elections held on Saturday in Ekiti State, declaring three candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners. The successful candidates are Opeyemi Bamidele, who won reelection for Ekiti Central; Yemi Adaramodu, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Southern District; and Cyril Fasuyi, the former director general of the Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Organisation, who won in the Northern District.

Prof. Sola Omotola, the INEC Returning Officer for the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, declared Bamidele the winner after he secured 69,351 votes, defeating his closest rival, Lateef Ajijola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 26,181 votes. In the Southern Senatorial District, Adaramodu was also declared the winner, having polled 63,189 votes against several opponents, including the incumbent senator, Biodun Olujimi of the PDP, who garnered 36,191 votes. Similarly, in the Ekiti North Senatorial District, Prof. Dosu Malomo announced Cyril Fasuyi as the winner, with 54,224 votes, defeating seven other candidates, including the PDP’s Funso Ayeni, who received 39,976 votes. Malomo stated, “I hereby announce and declare Cyril Fasuyi of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, the winner and of course, returned elected.”

Following his victory, Bamidele celebrated with a thanksgiving service at Babamuboni Memorial Anglican Church in Iyin-Ekiti, attended by his wife, family, friends, and associates. He expressed gratitude to God and the people of the Ekiti Central Senatorial District for granting him another opportunity to represent them in the Senate. Bamidele also thanked the church leadership and congregation for their ongoing prayers and support, requesting further spiritual guidance for the challenges ahead. He emphasized, “My main purpose of coming here today is to give thanks to Almighty God for His amazing grace over my life and family and for the success of the National Assembly and Presidential Election. We also came to seek spiritual blessings and benediction for the tasks ahead of us.”
