2027: Tinubu Unthreatened by Obi’s Eloquence, Says Olujimi

Obasanjo: Peter Obi’s Eloquence Won’t Guarantee 2027 Election Victory Over Tinubu

In an exclusive interview with Channels Television, former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Olujimi, asserted that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, poses no significant threat to President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid. Olujimi, a seasoned politician and former Senate Minority Leader, argues that Obi’s persuasive rhetoric, which played a decisive role in the 2023 presidential election, will lose its potency in the subsequent elections without innovative strategies.

Olujimi, who served as Deputy Governor under Ayodele Fayose, maintained her stance despite Obi’s robust performance during the 2023 elections. “The rhetoric of the last election will not work again, unless he (Obi) introduces a new tactic,” she stated. She further emphasized Tinubu’s extensive political experience and intimate understanding of Nigeria’s political landscape, asserting, “This (Tinubu) is a politician who knows the terrain well.”

The former Deputy Governor predicts a challenging task for any opposition candidate seeking to unseat Tinubu in the 2027 elections. “It would be difficult to defeat President Tinubu in 2027, given his wealth of political experience,” she said.

This assertion comes amidst speculations about the 2027 presidential elections, with many political pundits anticipating a rematch between Tinubu and Obi. However, Olujimi’s insights suggest that Obi may need to Device new strategies to effectively challenge Tinubu in the forthcoming elections.

The 2027 elections are still several years away, and much can change in Nigerian politics during this period. However, Olujimi’s comments serve as a wake-up call to opposition candidates, emphasizing the need for innovative strategies to challenge incumbent presidents.
