APC Tells Bauchi Governor To Focus On Governance

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has dismissed claims that the party is distracted by the 2027 elections, stating that it remains focused on its governance agenda. This response comes after Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State accused the APC and the Federal Government of prioritizing politics over governance ahead of the upcoming elections.

In a statement issued by the state party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the APC described Governor Mohammed’s accusation as a “misplaced outburst from a frustrated opposition.” Oladejo emphasized that President Bola Tinubu and the APC are committed to delivering bold reforms in the economy, security, infrastructure, and institutional development. He noted that the administration is tackling the challenges of nation-building head-on, while some opposition leaders are “busy grandstanding in the media and chasing shadows.”

The APC spokesman urged Governor Mohammed to draw inspiration from Lagos State, citing it as an example of effective governance under the APC. He suggested that the governor should channel his energy towards governing his state rather than launching baseless attacks on the APC and the Federal Government. Oladejo acknowledged the right of opposition leaders to express their views but found it ironic that such a statement would come from Governor Mohammed.

The APC’s response highlights the ongoing debate between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections. With the election season approaching, political parties are intensifying their rhetoric, and the APC’s statement is seen as a move to reassure the public of its commitment to governance. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the APC and the opposition will navigate the challenges of the election season while addressing the pressing issues facing the country. The APC’s focus on governance and development is likely to be a key aspect of its campaign strategy, and the party’s ability to deliver on its promises will be closely watched by voters and stakeholders alike.
