2027: Peter Obi may lose opportunity to be our candidate - Labour Party Secretary

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has voiced confidence in Peter Obi’s ability to transform Nigeria, citing his vision and plans for the country. Speaking on “Sunrise Daily,” a program on Channels Television, CUPP National Secretary Peter Umeh emphasized that Obi’s leadership approach is grounded in entering office with a clear plan and ensuring its execution. He stressed that Obi’s focus is on making a positive impact rather than merely occupying a position of power, stating, “What I want to tell people is that Peter Obi will get it right. He will get it right for the good of our people.”

Umeh also highlighted the importance of having a concrete agenda, noting that governance is not just about being in office but about implementing a well‑defined strategy. He addressed concerns that a four‑year term might be too short to achieve meaningful change, suggesting that CUPP believes Obi can make a significant impact within that timeframe.

As Nigeria prepares for its next general election amid economic and security challenges, the CUPP’s endorsement of Obi is attracting close attention. Observers will watch how Obi’s candidacy fares and what effect the coalition’s support may have on the election outcome.
