Djokovic Channels KPop Demon Hunters After US Open Quarterfinal Win

Novak Djokovic is advancing in the 2025 U.S. Open, but his mind is partly with his daughter Tara, who is celebrating her eighth birthday. After defeating Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals, Djokovic expressed that progressing deeper into the competition would mean missing his daughter’s special day.

Following his victory, Djokovic surprised the audience at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium with a dance performance inspired by the Netflix film “KPop Demon Hunters.” The film features a fictional K-pop girl group, HUNTR/X, and has gained significant popularity. Djokovic’s dance was to the song “Soda Pop” by the Saja Boys, which is currently ranked number five on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.

The tennis star posted a photo of his dance performance on social media, dedicating it to his daughter Tara. He mentioned that he and Tara often practice choreographies from the movie at home, and this particular dance was one of them. Djokovic hopes that his performance will make his daughter smile when she sees it.

The moment provided a rare glimpse into Djokovic’s life outside of tennis, showcasing his relationship with his daughter and their shared interest in the film. The director of “KPop Demon Hunters,” Maggie Kang, responded to Djokovic’s post, expressing her surprise and gratitude for the support. Arden Cho, the voice of Rumi in the film, also reacted to the clip, praising Djokovic’s performance.

Djokovic’s win over Fritz improves his 2025 record to 31-9 and secures his place in the semifinals of every major this season. He will face world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz on Friday, September 5, in a highly anticipated match. The upcoming clash is expected to be a significant event in the tennis world, with fans eagerly awaiting the outcome.
