2023 Elections: Abaribe defeats Gov. Ikpeazu, retains Abia South senatorial seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as the winner of the Abia-South Senatorial District election.

Abaribe defeated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He contested under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi, the returning officer for the election, declared the lawmaker winner on Tuesday in Aba.

Abaribe gathered 49,693 votes to beat the candidate of the Labour Party, Chinedu Onyeizu, who got 43,903 votes, while Ikpeazu polled 28,422 votes.
