The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned Nigerians to exercise caution when attending rallies organized by individuals claiming affiliation with the party. Acting National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe, who leads a faction of the ADC, says such events pose security risks, create public confusion, and undermine the party’s integrity.
In a statement released on Friday, Gombe emphasized that any gathering not sanctioned by the legitimate ADC leadership will be considered illegitimate and will not be recognized by the party. To safeguard public safety and uphold the party’s credibility, the ADC has mandated that all party activities—including rallies, meetings, and events—must receive prior approval from the authentic leadership.
The party urges members and the public to verify the legitimacy of any ADC event through official party channels before participating. This precaution is intended to prevent involvement in unauthorized gatherings that could compromise security and to ensure that only events approved by the recognized leadership under Gombe’s stewardship are deemed legitimate.
The warning comes as the ADC prepares for future activities and seeks to maintain its integrity while promoting public safety. By stressing transparency and accountability, the party aims to contribute to a stable and secure political environment in Nigeria.
