The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to reexamine its policies, citing the need to alleviate the suffering of citizens. In a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, the PDP urged the government to review policies that contribute to hardship, insecurity, and devaluation of life in Nigeria.
Eid-el-Maulud, observed to commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed, provides an opportunity for the Muslim community to promote national rebirth and resist totalitarian tendencies. The PDP encouraged the Muslim Ummah to use this occasion to reinforce their commitment to democracy and reject oppressive policies.
The party criticized the APC-led government for its perceived insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians, despite the widespread anguish caused by its policies. The PDP alleged that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed to address corruption and the reckless exploitation of national resources by APC members and their allies.
While many Nigerians struggle to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud due to economic hardship, the PDP accused APC leaders of displaying extravagant lifestyles, disregarding the welfare of citizens. The party warned the APC to desist from taking Nigerians for granted, emphasizing that its actions may provoke a reaction from the people.
