Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Chief Uche Nnaji announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made substantial gains in Enugu state, overtaking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to become the dominant party. He made this declaration at a rally organized by the APC’s women’s wing in Enugu, which was held in support of President Bola Tinubu.
The event attracted thousands of women from across the state, and President Tinubu was unanimously endorsed as the APC’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. APC National Women Leader Dr. Mary Alile‑Idel praised Tinubu’s commitment to renewing hope for Nigerians, citing his infrastructure projects and empowerment programmes as evidence of his dedication. She thanked him for supporting women’s empowerment, highlighting financial‑inclusion initiatives and capacity‑building programmes, and urged women throughout the South‑East and Nigeria to continue backing the president and the APC to secure a decisive victory in 2027.
APC Deputy National Chairman (South) Chief Emma Eneukwu expressed gratitude to the women of Enugu for their endorsement of Tinubu, noting that it demonstrated the party’s organisational strength in the region. He pledged the APC’s support for the Reserved Seat for Women Bill currently pending in the National Assembly.
Enugu State APC Chairman Hon. Ugochukwu Agballah said the state chapter has been repositioned to lead the party’s resurgence in Enugu, with strong backing from Chief Nnaji. APC State Women Leader Prof. Amaka Onu reaffirmed women’s commitment to taking a more active role in governance and leadership. The rally also marked the inauguration of the APC Women Wing in Enugu state, a significant milestone in the party’s effort to empower women and increase their political participation.
With the 2027 presidential election on the horizon, the APC’s mobilisation efforts in Enugu state and beyond are expected to gain further momentum.
