INEC Recognizes David Mark as ADC National Chairman

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has received official recognition from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, confirming David Mark as the party’s National Chairman. This development has been hailed by ADC chieftain Chille Igbawua as a “vindication for the rule of law,”following INEC’s acknowledgment of the party’s National Working Committee and National Executive Council as constituted in the last meeting.

In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’ programme, Igbawua stated that INEC’s decision was a procedural matter that the party had fulfilled. He noted that other camps had attempted to capitalize on the situation, but the recognition by INEC has put the issue to rest. The ADC chieftain also mentioned that the party’s founder, Ralph Nwosu, has accepted his new role as an ordinary member and has expressed support for the party’s rebranding and growth.

The recognition by INEC is seen as a stabilizing factor for the opposition, and it may have implications for the political landscape. According to Igbawua, the development may not be well-received by President Bola Tinubu. The ADC has undergone internal restructuring, leading to the appointment of new national officers, which has now been officially acknowledged by INEC.

INEC’s confirmation was displayed on its website, marking a significant milestone for the party. The recognition is a result of the ADC meeting INEC’s requirements, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the party’s operations. With the leadership issue resolved, the ADC can now focus on its political activities and prepare for future elections.

The development is a notable one in Nigeria’s political scene, as it highlights the importance of the rule of law and the role of electoral commissions in ensuring the integrity of the political process. As the country navigates its political landscape, the recognition of the ADC’s leadership is a significant step towards promoting stability and democracy.
