'Vindication for rule of law’ — ADC chieftain hails INEC’s recognition of David Mark

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has received official recognition from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), confirming David Mark as the party’s National Chairman. ADC chieftain Chille Igbawua hailed the decision as a “vindication for the rule of law,” noting that INEC also acknowledged the party’s National Working Committee and National Executive Council as constituted at the last meeting.

In an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief,” Igbawua explained that INEC’s ruling was a procedural matter that the party had duly fulfilled. He said that other camps had tried to exploit the situation, but the commission’s recognition has settled the dispute. Igbawua added that the party’s founder, Ralph Nwosu, has accepted his new status as an ordinary member and supports the ADC’s rebranding and growth.

The INEC acknowledgment is viewed as a stabilising factor for the opposition and could influence the broader political landscape, although Igbawua warned it may not be well‑received by President Bola Tinubu. The ADC’s internal restructuring, which led to the appointment of new national officers, has now been formally recognised by INEC, a confirmation displayed on the commission’s website.

This recognition reflects the ADC’s compliance with INEC’s requirements and is expected to positively affect the party’s operations. With the leadership issue resolved, the ADC can concentrate on its political activities and prepare for upcoming elections. The development underscores the importance of the rule of law and the role of electoral commissions in safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s political process, marking a significant step toward greater stability and democracy.
