The Katsina State Scholarship Board has announced the approval of more than N372 million in bursary allowances for 24,452 continuing students, a decision made by Governor Dikko Radda. Executive Secretary Dr. Aminu Salisu‑Tsauri disclosed the approval in a statement issued in Katsina, emphasizing that it reflects the Governor’s commitment to human‑capital development and his belief that education is essential for peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
Since the current administration took office, the government has consistently prioritized students’ welfare through bursary disbursements. Previously, it has paid out over N637.9 million to 47,935 students and N544.2 million to 37,802 students. More recently, the administration disbursed over N744.1 million to 50,438 students. With the latest approval, the total number of beneficiaries now stands at 174,461 students.
The board also announced plans to approve the 2024/2025 local scholarships for 12,609 new students, alongside awards for academic excellence and special scholarships for students with special needs. These categories will be formally unveiled at the forthcoming inauguration ceremony, and arrangements are being made to ensure the timely disbursement of the newly approved funds.
In addition to local support, Governor Radda’s administration has sponsored students to study abroad in specialized fields, raising the state’s profile on the global stage. The continued investment in education underscores the government’s dedication to student welfare and is expected to alleviate financial pressures on students and their families, allowing them to concentrate on their academic pursuits.
