The Rivers State Entrepreneur and Investors Forum has urged political leaders to restrain their supporters from making statements that could exacerbate the state’s political crisis. Ibifiri Bobmanuel, president of the forum, said that the actions of political supporters have significantly contributed to the unrest in Rivers State. His comments follow President Bola Tinubu’s decision to end the six‑month emergency rule in the state, a move welcomed by the private sector.

Bobmanuel expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory for brokering a peace initiative, which he described as vital for private‑sector growth. He emphasized the need for the people of Rivers to unite and foster peace in order to drive the development the state urgently requires. He also called on the governor to “hit the ground running” to attract private investment and create an enabling environment for direct foreign investment.

Furthermore, Bobmanuel stressed the importance of dissolving all political factions into a single, unified structure, arguing that the state cannot progress without unity. He highlighted that unity, purpose, and focus are essential for the state’s growth and development.

The forum’s call for restraint and unity comes at a critical juncture. With the emergency rule lifted, Rivers State is poised for development, but this can only be achieved if political leaders and their supporters work together to maintain peace and stability. The private sector is eager to invest, but a conducive environment is necessary, and the governor’s ability to create such conditions will be crucial for attracting foreign investment and driving development.

In the coming days, the governor is expected to outline his plans for attracting private investments and establishing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. The private sector will be closely watching these developments, and the state’s future progress will depend on the cooperation of all stakeholders in the aftermath of the emergency rule.
