African Democratic Congress Urges Atiku, Others to Register Membership

The Adamawa State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has initiated a membership registration drive, urging prominent individuals associated with the party to formally register. According to the party’s state chairman, Shehu Yohanna, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Lawal Babachir, are among those expected to register.

Speaking at the party’s state headquarters in Yola, Yohanna emphasized the importance of registration for legitimate participation in the party’s activities. He stated that being duly registered and possessing a membership card is the only way members can exercise influence within the party. Yohanna expressed optimism about the party’s potential, citing its coalition structure as a credible alternative for Nigerians.

The ADC, which has been in existence since 2002, is poised to become a leading political force in Adamawa State. Yohanna encouraged all coalition partners and stakeholders to participate in the fresh registration of party membership. He noted that even prominent coalition leaders, such as Atiku and Babachir, must register in their respective wards to be considered bona fide members with a voice in the party.

The membership registration drive is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the party’s structure and preparing it for future elections. With its coalition partners, the ADC aims to offer a viable alternative to the current political landscape in Nigeria. Yohanna’s statement underscores the party’s commitment to democratic principles and its desire to provide a platform for Nigerians to participate in the political process.

As the registration drive continues, the ADC is expected to strengthen its grassroots presence and build a stronger foundation for future political endeavors. The party’s efforts to increase its membership and engage with stakeholders are likely to have significant implications for the political landscape in Adamawa State and beyond.
