Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that several governors from opposition parties are close to deciding to join the ruling party led by President Bola Tinubu. He made the statement at the launch of “Ten Years of Impactful Leadership of the APC Administration in Nigeria,” a book by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, and during the commissioning of President Tinubu’s projects in Owerri.
Akpabio said Tinubu’s reforms over the past two years have produced positive results that are now being recognized by various segments of the population, including students, farmers and businessmen. He noted that beneficiaries of these reforms are testifying to their impact, which he described as evidence of the president’s effective policies.
The Senate President also praised Governor Uzodimma for documenting the APC administration’s history, stressing that telling one’s own story is essential to avoid misrepresentation. He commended the quality of work undertaken in Imo State, which he believes has benefited its people.
Recalling his own record as governor of Akwa Ibom State 18 years ago, Akpabio highlighted the progressive projects he implemented during his tenure. His comments suggest that Tinubu’s leadership is attracting support across the political spectrum, with more opposition governors potentially defecting to the ruling party.
