UAC of Nigeria PLC has completed its acquisition of Chivita|Hollandia, a leading Nigerian manufacturer of juice and dairy products. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) approved the transaction, which is expected to strengthen UAC’s position in the country’s fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. The deal, first announced on 30 July 2025, transfers ownership of CHI Limited to UAC.
UAC says the acquisition will expand its footprint in the growing juice and dairy markets, adding two market‑leading brands and a well‑established distribution network to its portfolio. Eelco Weber, Managing Director of CHI Limited, expressed optimism about the future under UAC’s ownership: “We are pleased to have received regulatory approval for this transaction. We look forward to a smooth transition and to seeing Chivita|Hollandia thrive under UAC’s ownership.”
Fola Aiyesimoju, Group Managing Director of UAC, highlighted the strategic importance of the deal, stating, “We are excited to officially welcome the Chivita|Hollandia team and brands into the UAC family, and we are eager to work together to build on their strong legacy and market leadership.”
The transaction also aligns with The Coca‑Cola Company’s global strategy of adopting a more asset‑light model focused on high‑scale brands. Coca‑Cola has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria, planning to invest $1 billion over five years, contingent on a stable and supportive business environment.
This acquisition marks a significant development in Nigeria’s FMCG sector as UAC seeks to consolidate its position and broaden its product offerings. With the deal completed, UAC is poised to leverage Chivita|Hollandia’s leading brands and distribution network to drive growth and increase market share. The move is expected to positively impact the Nigerian economy, reflecting continued investment by UAC and Coca‑Cola in the country’s consumer goods sector and underscoring growing investor confidence despite challenges. As UAC and Chivita|Hollandia embark on this new chapter, they are set to play a major role in shaping Nigeria’s consumer‑goods landscape.
