Police neutralise 3 bandits, recover motorcycle in Kebbi — Daily Nigerian

The Kebbi State Police Command announced that three suspected bandits were neutralized and a motorcycle was recovered in Kamba, Dandi Local Government Area. Police Public Relations Officer CSP Nafi’u Abubakar said the incident occurred on Friday at about 12:45 p.m., after the command received credible intelligence that a gang of suspected Lakurawa bandits had invaded Gorun Yamma village in Dandi LGA.

In response, Divisional Police Officer in Kamba, SP Bello Lawal, deployed a combined team of policemen and vigilantes to the scene. The team engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours, resulting in the neutralization of three suspects while several others escaped with gunshot wounds. An unregistered red Honda motorcycle, commonly referred to as “Boko Haram,” was also recovered as evidence.

Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello Sani, commended the DPO and his team for their bravery and swift response, which thwarted the criminals’ plans. He urged continued cooperation between operatives, vigilantes, and other security agencies to curb the activities of the Lakurawa terror group and other violent crimes in the state. The commissioner directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The police command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property in Kebbi State and urged residents to support security agencies by reporting suspicious movements to the nearest police formation. The successful operation marks a significant step toward addressing the region’s security challenges, and the police aim to build on this momentum to ensure citizens’ safety. The Lakurawa terror group has been responsible for various violent crimes in the area, and cooperation between police and vigilantes has been instrumental in combating crime. As the investigation continues, authorities call on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
