APC Plans Takeover of Abia State in 2027

The Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will gain control of Abia State in the upcoming elections. Currently, the state is controlled by the Labour Party. Kalu made this statement while addressing a gathering of his supporters and APC members at the Abia Hotels in Umuahia on Sunday.

According to Kalu, President Bola Tinubu plans to establish a seaport in the South-East geopolitical zone to enhance trade and commerce in the region. The Deputy Speaker noted that the President recognizes the South-East as a predominantly trading region and aims to bring a seaport closer to the people. This move is expected to boost economic activity and integrate Abia State into mainstream politics, allowing it to benefit more from federal initiatives.

Kalu emphasized that the APC’s goal is to work with the President to move Abia State forward. He stated, “We are going to take over Abia in 2027; we want to work with the President to move our state forward.” The Deputy Speaker also addressed the crowd, saying that their gathering was not motivated by financial gain, but rather by their support for the President and their desire to advance the state and federal government.

The APC’s intentions to take control of Abia State are significant, as the party seeks to expand its influence in the region. With the planned establishment of a seaport, the South-East zone is poised to experience increased economic activity, which could have far-reaching implications for the region’s development. As the 2027 elections approach, the APC’s efforts to gain control of Abia State will be closely watched, and the outcome is likely to have a significant impact on the state’s political landscape.
