Enugu Governor Peter Mbah to Join APC Next Week

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is reportedly set to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) next week. This development was announced by the National Chairman and Deputy National Chairman, South-East, of the APC, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and Emma Eneukwu, respectively, in Abuja on Friday.

The revelation came during the swearing-in of the newly inaugurated members of the Enugu State caretaker committee, led by former state chairman, Ben Nwoye, at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. According to Chairman Nwoye, who confirmed the development, Governor Mbah will join the APC alongside all his appointees. The governor is expected to make a formal announcement at an event scheduled to take place in the state next week.

This move is seen as a significant development in Nigerian politics, as it involves a high-profile defection from the opposition PDP to the ruling APC. The APC national leadership appears to be expanding its reach, with speculations also emerging about the potential defection of Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, to the party.

The Enugu State caretaker committee, led by Nwoye, has been inaugurated to oversee the party’s affairs in the state. The committee’s inauguration and the anticipated defection of Governor Mbah are expected to have implications for the political landscape in Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.

As the event where Governor Mbah is expected to announce his defection approaches, attention will be focused on the potential impact of this move on the state’s political dynamics. The APC’s efforts to consolidate its position and expand its influence in Nigerian politics will also be closely watched. With the country’s political landscape continually evolving, developments such as these defections are likely to shape the future of Nigerian politics.
