President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed more than 64,000 new members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State. The defectors, formerly affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other parties, were received by Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, who represented the President. According to a statement from Governor Buni’s media aide, Mamman Mohammed, the President assured the newcomers that they would receive equal treatment and opportunities within the party, praising their courage and determination to support the ruling party’s mission and commitment to national development.

The President reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing security nationwide, safeguarding lives and property, and promoting economic growth. He also pledged to complete the Kano‑Maiduguri federal highway, a project that will facilitate the delivery of goods and services and stimulate economic development. Tinubu commended Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for his developmental achievements, which have positively impacted the lives of the people.

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda also praised Governor Namadi, urging the new members to feel at home and work for the APC. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alh. Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, called on the people of Jigawa State to support the APC administration in its efforts to move Nigeria forward, assuring that the state will continue to benefit from the APC‑led federal government.

Governor Umar Namadi affirmed that federal support has improved the lives of Jigawa’s citizens and declared that the state will remain an APC stronghold. He cited the recent defections as a significant boost to the party’s presence in the region. With this development, the APC is poised to maintain its dominance in Jigawa State, further solidifying its position in the country’s political landscape.
