Tinubu Urged to Sack Security Chiefs Over Insecurity

A former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Tinubu to dismiss the country’s security chiefs due to the ongoing killings of Nigerians. Frank’s call comes after the recent killing of soldiers in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

The increasing wave of insecurity, banditry, and kidnappings has sparked concern, with Frank describing the situation as a national tragedy that requires immediate executive action. He noted that Nigerians are being killed daily across the country, indicating a collapse of the security architecture under the current leadership. The lack of proper equipment and funding for security personnel has resulted in the deaths of many soldiers and policemen.

The international community has taken notice of the situation, with US President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz speaking out against the killings. Frank commended their advocacy, stating that their actions have helped bring attention to the issue. He encouraged President Tinubu to heed the counsel of US leaders on insecurity, citing the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and the United States.

Frank also criticized the Nigerian Senate for condemning Senator Ted Cruz’s comments on the killing of innocent Nigerians. He argued that the Senate should have focused on holding the executive accountable for protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, rather than responding to international criticism. The detention of Nnamdi Kanu and the failure to ensure the security chiefs are acting to protect Nigerians were cited as examples of the Senate’s inaction.

The situation highlights the need for urgent action to address the security challenges facing Nigeria. The country’s leadership must work to restore the effectiveness of the security architecture and protect the lives and property of its citizens. As the international community continues to monitor the situation, the Nigerian government must take concrete steps to address the root causes of insecurity and ensure the safety of its people.
