APC Denies Aspirant Anointment Ahead of Borno Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has denied allegations of favoritism towards certain aspirants in the upcoming local government elections, scheduled to take place on December 25, 2025. According to Bello Ayuba, the State Chairman of the party, the APC has formally notified the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) of its intention to participate in the polls.

To ensure a transparent and fair process, the party has established four key committees: Sale of Forms, Screening, Appeal, and Reconciliation. These committees will oversee the election process across the state’s 27 local government areas and 312 wards. The Sale of Forms Committee has already begun issuing nomination forms to party members aspiring for chairmanship and councillorship positions, free of charge.

The Screening Committee will verify all documents submitted by aspirants, a process expected to take approximately one week before the conduct of primaries. Even in cases where only one aspirant is seeking a position, committees will still be established to affirm the candidate’s popularity and acceptability among party members. This measure aims to ensure internal democracy, fair competition, and a level playing field for all aspirants.

Ayuba emphasized that the party remains committed to treating all aspirants equally, with no one denied access to nomination forms. The APC’s position is that every aspirant should have an equal opportunity to participate in the election process. With the election date approaching, the party is making necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

The upcoming local government elections in Borno State are significant, as they will shape the state’s governance structure for the next term. The APC’s commitment to internal democracy and fair competition is crucial in maintaining the trust of its members and the general public. As the election date draws near, the party’s preparations and commitment to transparency will be closely watched by stakeholders and the public alike.
