Nigeria TCN Announces 10-Day Gombe Substation Maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise on its Gombe State transmission substation, set to take place from October 14 to 24, 2025. According to a statement by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the maintenance crew will carry out preventive work at the Gombe 132/33 kV Transmission Substation from 9 am to 4 pm daily.

The exercise aims to replace protection and control panels with new ones on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8. To minimize disruption, the load on the Shongo 33 kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33 kV feeder, while the load on the Mallam Sidi feeder will be transferred to the Doma 33 kV feeder 6. This means that there will be no bulk power interruption to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company during the maintenance period.

The federal government has assured that the exercise will not affect bulk electricity supply to Jos Electricity Distribution Company. The maintenance is part of TCN’s efforts to ensure efficient and reliable power transmission. The company has planned the exercise to avoid any significant impact on power distribution, and the load management strategy is designed to maintain stability in the grid.

The Gombe transmission substation is a critical component of Nigeria’s power infrastructure, and regular maintenance is essential to prevent unexpected outages and ensure optimal performance. The scheduled maintenance exercise demonstrates TCN’s commitment to proactive maintenance and its focus on providing reliable electricity transmission services.

With the maintenance exercise set to commence on October 14, TCN has assured stakeholders that the work will be completed within the scheduled 10-day period, and normal operations will resume thereafter. The company will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary to ensure a seamless transition and minimal disruption to power supply.
