A tragic incident occurred in Kano State, Nigeria, when 14‑year‑old Sulaiman Nura Ado drowned at Ruwan Promise, a popular local swimming pond. The Kano State Fire Service reported that the accident happened on 25 October 2025 at about 3:00 p.m., after a call from Ghali Isah Muhd prompted a swift response from a rescue team led by Director Alhaji Sani Anas.

The rescue team arrived promptly, retrieved the boy from the water, and found him unconscious. Despite attempts to revive him, Sulaiman was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was handed over to the police, with Police Constable Mubarak Ishak of the Rijiyar Zaki Police Division taking custody.

The Kano State Fire Service expressed condolences to the family and urged parents and guardians to keep children away from unsafe swimming areas. It emphasized that ponds and other bodies of water not designated for swimming pose serious risks and that proper supervision and safety measures are essential.

The incident underscores the need for greater awareness and education on water safety, especially for children and young adults. The fire service’s prompt response and its warning serve as a reminder to the community to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions to prevent similar tragedies. As the community mourns Sulaiman’s loss, it is crucial to learn from this tragedy and implement proactive steps to avoid future accidents.
