PDP Nat'l Chairmanship: You'll be punished for suing party - Bode George warns Lamido

Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has warned former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido against suing the party. Lamido’s attempt to purchase the National Chairmanship nomination form failed because the responsible official was absent from the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. After the setback, Lamido threatened legal action, prompting George to caution him that internal party mechanisms must be exhausted before turning to the courts.

George emphasized that the PDP’s doors remain open to all interested candidates, including Lamido, and that the party has never barred anyone from contesting the National Chairmanship. He explained that the final decision rests with the delegates at the convention, noting that the party belongs to its members, not to individuals. On a television program, he urged Lamido to obtain the nomination form, complete it, and compete in the convention, where delegates will determine the outcome. George warned that pursuing a court case without first following internal procedures could result in punishment.

The remarks come as the PDP prepares for its national convention, where the National Chairmanship will be contested. Party leaders are working to ensure a seamless, transparent process that allows all qualified candidates to participate. As the convention approaches, the PDP is emphasizing adherence to internal procedures and respect for the democratic process, underscoring the importance of transparent and inclusive nomination practices. Effective management of internal affairs will be crucial for maintaining the trust of party members and the broader electorate, and the party’s leadership will be closely watched to ensure a fair and democratic convention.
