The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has launched an initiative to mobilize support groups across the state’s 27 local government areas in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The goal is to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and lay a solid foundation for electoral success.
Diamond Bryan Agu, Director General of the Directorate of Support Groups, explained that the initiative involves collaborating with civil society organizations (CSOs) and non‑governmental organizations (NGOs) to raise awareness and mobilize voters at the grassroots level. He emphasized the directorate’s role in driving the party’s electoral victory, citing the ADC’s commitment to a new political culture based on credibility, inclusiveness, accountability and collective progress.
The ADC’s leadership approach stresses credibility, conviction and service to humanity rather than manipulation or intimidation. According to Agu, the party’s support‑group structure prioritizes ideas and service over financial influence, creating a platform where individuals can engage in meaningful politics. So far, the directorate has registered ten support groups, with an additional fourteen groups expressing interest in partnering with the party to enhance its grassroots presence.
This mobilization effort highlights the ADC’s focus on building a strong, inclusive political movement in Imo State. By engaging CSOs, NGOs and other support groups, the party aims to foster collective ownership and responsibility among its members and supporters.
