Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made by Mamman Mohammed, Director‑General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, in a statement released to the press. Adamu declared his defection at a ceremony in Damaturu, citing Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to developing the state as his motivation. He pledged to support the APC’s success in Yobe, bringing his supporters from the Zone B senatorial district with him, and asserted that the opposition, including the PDP, is no longer a viable force in the state.
APC Yobe State Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka described Adamu’s defection as a significant gain for the party and promised to integrate him and his supporters into the party’s fold. Governor Buni welcomed Adamu, emphasizing that the new members would be valued equally with existing party members.
