Dangote Refinery cuts petrol price to N827 per litre

Dangote Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit in Nigeria, following a significant drop in the landing cost of imported petrol. The refinery’s ex-depot petrol price has been decreased to N827 per litre, down from N872, representing a reduction of N44.

This adjustment is confirmed by the company and is a response to the consistent drops in the landing cost of petrol over the last few days. According to data from the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria, the landing cost of petrol dropped to N827.04 as of November 2025. This decline has already led to lower retail prices of fuel in parts of Abuja.

The price reduction is part of Dangote Refinery’s effort to remain competitive in Nigeria’s downstream sector. The refinery’s retail partners, including MRS and AP Ardova, are expected to follow suit and reduce their petrol prices below N950 per litre in the coming days.

The decrease in fuel prices is a welcome development for consumers in Nigeria, who have been facing high energy costs. The reduction in the landing cost of imported petrol is a key factor in this development, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the overall economy.

Dangote Refinery’s decision to review its petrol price is a strategic move to maintain its market share in the country’s downstream sector. The company’s ability to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust its prices accordingly is a testament to its commitment to remaining competitive.

As the Nigerian energy market continues to evolve, it is likely that other players in the industry will also adjust their prices in response to changing market conditions. The reduction in fuel prices is a significant development that will be closely watched by consumers, businesses, and industry stakeholders.
