'To die in Christ is gain for me' - Rev Dachomo reacts to assassination warning

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a prominent Nigerian clergyman and regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi LGA, has responded to reports that he has been targeted for assassination by Islamic terrorists and bandits. The threat, disclosed by the Anonymous Group, alleges that Rev. Dachomo has been marked for elimination within a week because of his vocal stance on Christian persecution in Plateau State.

Rev. Dachomo has long been an outspoken advocate for the rights of Christians in Nigeria. Despite denials by the federal government, he has consistently condemned the killing of Christians, sharing videos and evidence of mass burials. His refusal to back down has angered extremists and terrorists, who are reportedly upset by his exposure of their activities.

The Anonymous Group, a decentralized online collective known for its hacktivism, posted a warning on its Facebook page claiming that Rev. Dachomo’s photos have been circulated among Islamic terrorists and bandits, with orders to assassinate him within seven days. The group linked the threat to Rev. Dachomo’s perceived role in prompting U.S. President Donald Trump’s intervention and the designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged Christian persecution.

In response, Rev. Dachomo said he is not afraid of death, having already dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. In a video message he emphasized that dying for his faith would be a “big gain” and affirmed his commitment to speaking the truth, even in the face of danger. This is not his first encounter with death threats; he has previously received warnings on social media and during mass burials.

The Nigerian government has faced criticism for its handling of Christian persecution, with many accusing the authorities of failing to protect vulnerable communities. Rev. Dachomo’s case highlights the risks faced by those who speak out against violence and extremism in Nigeria. As the situation unfolds, concerns for his safety remain, and his bravery has sparked widespread support and admiration.
