The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has lowered the 2026 Hajj fares for pilgrims across the country. This reduction follows a directive from President Bola Tinubu issued in October through his Deputy Chief of Staff, Sen. Ibrahim Hadeija, to cut the costs that NAHCON had previously announced. After the presidential instruction, the commission reevaluated the fares that it had approved in September.
Pilgrims from the Borno and Adamawa zones will now pay ₦7,579,020.96, a reduction of ₦748,104.63 from the 2025 fare of ₦8,327,125.59. Those from the Northern Zone will be charged ₦7,696,769.76, decreasing by ₦760,915.83 compared with the previous year’s ₦8,457,685.59. For the Southern Zone, the revised 2026 fare is ₦7,991,141.76, down ₦792,943.83 from the 2025 amount of ₦8,784,085.59. These adjustments aim to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims ahead of the 2026 Hajj.
NAHCON has also set a new payment deadline of 5 December 2025 for all intending pilgrims. To ensure smooth processing and participation in the 2026 Hajj, pilgrims are advised to complete their payments on or before that date. For further details, the public can visit NAHCON’s official website at www.nahcon.gov.ng.
The fare reductions and the revised payment deadline represent significant developments for Nigerian Muslims planning to undertake the 2026 Hajj. By making the pilgrimage more accessible, NAHCON underscores the importance of the Hajj for Nigerian believers and reflects the government’s commitment to supporting their religious practices.
